Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on the detection, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of neuro-musculoskeletal dysfunctions and their consequences to body function and health.

The fundamental function of your body relies on the relationship between the nervous system and its effects on your joints, muscles and bones. Misalignments or restrictions within the spine may affect the normal nerve flow and may result in a malfunction of tissues. Chiropractic helps to address these malfunctions not by the use of drugs and chemicals, but by locating and manipulating a musculoskeletal area of the body, which is functioning improperly.

The main act performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as the ‘Chiropractic Adjustment’. It is described as a specific force with short amplitude in order to restore joint mobility, nerve flow and relieve pain or discomfort. Although adjustments are very effective, other sort of modalities can be used such as soft tissue therapy, joint mobilization, rehabilitation exercises and more.

The conditions treated by these approaches include sciatica, back pain, stiff neck, osteoarthritis, nerve pain, disc problems, muscle injuries and more. Headaches, migraines, respiratory disorders, gastrointestinal or genitourinary conditions can also be treated by a chiropractor, only if these disorders fall into a biomechanical scheme. For example, chiropractic will not treat asthma; however it will be able to increase significantly your lung function and capacity by improving postural alignment, spinal restrictions and release overactive musculature.

Chiropractic Care starts the moment you walk into the room. It will incoporate a combination of tests including but not limited to postural analysis, a comprehensive patient history, examination, orthopedic tests and scans (if needed). The chiropractor will then tailor the best care for each specific symptom and will carry out a management plan with prescribed exercises as well as advice on lifestyle and ergonomics.
